Renovating an Apartment Building: Tips

I had always wanted to be an entrepreneur, so when I saw a local apartment building up for sale at a great price, I decided make the investment. I am a manager by day, so I thought I was ready to be a great landlord. After I had trouble attracting new tenants, I decided to try investing in a few upgrades to see if I could attract more tenants with the added features. I hired a local contractor to work on my first project, which was a fitness room. I remembered that I always looked for buildings with them when I rented apartments! I then had some work done on the grounds and in the apartments themselves. The building is completely full now, so I realized it was a good investment. I decided to start a blog to share my renovating and construction tips with anyone who needs them!

Four Unusual Things Found To Be Clogging Drains In A Home

Plumbers get a lot of slack from their other trade profession counterparts just because it would seem that they have one of the most mundane, and definitely one of the dirtiest jobs, on the block. In spite of the fact that plumbing may not be all bells and whistles, there are some pretty interesting things that can happen on the job. The most interesting occurrences usually involve strange things that tend to turn up when pipes are broken loose during drain cleaning. Here are four unusual things that plumbers tend to find in the pipes of the home.

Live Animals

No matter where you live, there is bound to be some kind of conspiracy theory about the things that happen to live in the sewers system beneath the town. Whether it is a mutated goldfish with beady eyes and sharp teeth or a massive alligator, these urban legends stem from real happenings—well, sort of. Live animals get flushed and washed down the drain all the time. It is not at all uncommon for a plumber to pop open a pipeline to find a creature that is still alive and well.

Expensive Jewelry

Were you washing your hands in the kitchen sink when your $4,000 engagement ring slips down the drain? Well, who else are you gonna call but your local plumber? Plumbers face this issue all the time and hunting for treasure in a grimy and gritty pipe is just one of the perks of the job. Plumbers even find lost jewelry when people have no idea that something they have lost is just hidden in the drain line.

Unbelievable Amounts of Hair

It may not sound so unusual that plumbers almost always find hair clogging drains. However, it is not the fact that they find hair that is unusual. It is the sheer volume of hair that is found. With so much hair in the average drain, it would be easy to assume that you make it a daily habit to shave your head full of long hair or purposely stuff dog hair down the bathtub drain.

Articles of Clothing

Are you missing a few pairs of your favorite underwear? If so, you may want to get in touch of a local plumber to make sure they are not clogging the drains in your home. It is not at all uncommon for plumbers to find the source of a major clog to be a piece of clothing. Socks, underwear, and even pants have been found flushed down the toilet. How? Why? Your guess is as good as your plumber's in a lot of cases.

When you are thinking about calling a plumbing company like West Sound Plumbing Service about a clogged drain, make sure you give a little thought to just what may be hiding in the pipes at your house. If you really want a laugh, ask the plumber when he arrives about some of the things he has found in clogged drains. You may be surprised at the stories that the plumber will tell you.
